Windy Afternoon on the Pemi
    May 2015

It was windy and cool along the Pemigewasset River today. I rode my
    bicycle
north from Sanbornton and stopped to make a few QSOs. I worked two
stations in the CWT sprint and then worked Guy NS0TA who was on his

    way to Dayton.

It was barely 55F and really breezy. Good thing because the black
    flies are out in
full force. The wind kept them at bay.

I rode about a mile north and stopped along the river. I set up the
    MTR with a half
wave wire and the Par matchbox.

I sat right down along the edge of the trail and started tuning
    around 20 meters. There
was a CWT sprint in progress and I made two quick QSOs with NS9I in
    Wisconsin
and K9QVB in Illinois. Then I tuned up the band to the QRP
    frequency. There was
NS0TA who was surprisingly strong. Guy and I exchanged 559s and he
    told me he
was in Central Ohio (on Campbell Hill according to SOTAWATCH) on his
    way to
Dayton. I told him I was /p along the riverside and wished him a
    good time at the
    Hamvention.

I only operated about 10 minutes, but what a lot of fun to work to
work an old friend QRP and both portable! I
packed up the gear and rode back along the trail.
